The New London Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve Tier I Re-accreditation by verifying it continues to meet professional standards.

Administered by the Police Officer Standards and Training Council, the state accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state of the art standards.  

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments.  Comments can be mailed to William E. Tanner, III, POSTC Accreditation Division at 285 Preston Ave. Meriden, Connecticut 06450, by telephone at 203-427-2602, by fax at 203-238-6643 or by email:

Accreditation.Compliance@po.state.ct.us.  Please enter the name of the agency in the subject line of the email.

To be eligible under the LEOSA you must have retired from NLPD in the last 12 months or successfully qualified with a firearm last year (2016) with the Department.

The application must be returned to the Support Services Division Commander by April 1, 2017 @ 3:00 pm. Please include a phone number and an email address on your return application.

The qualification date shall be held at the Waterford Range on a date TBD (2017).
